soya chunks capsicum masala

Soya chunks or soya nuggets which also known as meal maker, is used as a meat analogue or meat substitute by vegetarians. I tasted this recipe after my marriage only. Being vegetarians my in laws were using this highly protein rich soya nugget as mock meat. This  is a simple, tasty,and easy to make dish. Try it..............

 Soya nugget capsicum masala recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 cups soya nuggets
  • 1/2 chopped capscicum
  • 2 large onions chopped lengthwise
  • 1" piece ginger
  • 2 medium tomato, chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powde
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 3 tablespoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 3 tablespoon fresh cream
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoon oil
  • Coriander leaves for garnish

Direction for preparation


  1. Boil water in a pan,  add soya chunks and let it boil for one more minute. Turn off the stove and leave it for  five minutes till they turn soft. Squeeze off excess water, rinse with fresh water and squeeze again.  Repeat this process two to three times to remove the frothy liquid which may upset your tummy. Cut nuggets into small pieces and keep aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pan, saute capsicum for one minute and keep aside.
  3. In the same oil, saute onion, ginger, garlic and slit green chilies till the onions turn golden brown in colour.
  4. Add all the powdered spices ( Turmeric powder, chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala and chicken masala) and saute till the raw smell goes.
  5. Add chopped tomatoes and saute till it became soft.
  6. Add soya chunks, salt and fried capsicum and mix well. cook covered for a few more minutes till soya chunks absorb all spices.
  7. Then add fresh cream and mix well. Cook for one or two minutes. You can also switch off the stove immediately after adding fresh cream.
  8. Garnish with coriander leaves.




Let us go to the step by step preparation of soya nuggets capscicum masala

  1.  Boil water in a pan, add soya chunks and let it boil for one more minute.

  4.  Saute capsicum for one minute and keep aside.
  5. In the same oil, saute onion, ginger, garlic and slit green chilies till the onions turn golden brown .
  6. Add two tablespoon chicken masala (optional),
  7. 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  8. three tablespoon coriander powder,
  9. one teaspoon garam masala
  10. and one teaspoon chili powder. Saute till its raw smell leaves.
  11. Add chopped tomatoes and saute till it became soft.
  12. Add soya chunks, salt and fried capsicum and mix well.
  13. Add three tablespoon fresh cream.
  14. Add salt to taste. Mix well.
  15.  Cook covered for few more minutes till the soya chunks absorb all spice.
  16. Garnish with coriander leaves
  17. Try this dish with chappathi, rice etc.




Notes

Soya nuggets are rinsed two three times after cooking to get rid of the frothy fluid which might have upset the tummy.
