French Toast

 French Toast is a classic breakfast made with bread slices, milk, egg, and flavoring agents. This quick and easy dish is really a good friend for busy working moms. If bread is available you can make this with in no time. 

French Toast can be sweet or savory, with eggs or eggless. But in all forms, it is a tasty and easy dish for us. My mom used to make this as an evening snack during our school days. Me and my bro will be nearby her to gobble this up right away from the hot pan. The buttery cinnamon flavored crispy bread slices with the soft custard center. 

The recipe, I am sharing, is quite an easy and the sweetie version. It needs only some milk, egg, sugar and butter. To get rid of the egg smell, I incorporated some vanilla essence and cinnamon. When it was fried, my entire house was filled with the pleasing fragrance of butter and vanilla. Really tempting.😋

French Toast Recipe | Traditional French Toast With Eggs | How to make French Toast At Home

Shallow fried flavored sweet bread slices
Preparation time: 5 minutes | Cooking time: 5 minutes | Total time: 10 minutes

  • 6 or 8 slices of bread
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2.5 tbsp of sugar (adjust to your taste)
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • A pinch of cinnamon
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp butter/ghee

How to make French toast easily at home
  1. Making French toast is quite easy. Take wide and shallow bowl which is wide enough to dip the bread slices. Pour milk and break one egg in the bowl. You can use raw milk directly, no need to boil the milk. 

  2. Now it is the time to add the sweetener. I used two and a half tablespoons of sugar in this recipe, but you can adjust to your taste. With these three ingredients, my mom used to make French toast when we were kids. Due to the easiness in making and we liked to have this dish after school.

  3. But when talking about the traditional way of making French toast, you have to put some flavoring agents like vanilla and cinnamon or any one of this. This helps to reduce the egg smell of French toast and fill the toast with nice pleasant aroma.

  4. Once you have put all the ingredients in the bowl, give a nice mix till the sugar dissolves. No need to over beat or make it frothy.

  5. Heat butter on a hot pan. You can use ghee also, if you don't have butter. Once the butter melts, reduce the flame and spread it all over the pan so that we get the buttery taste all over the bread slices.

  6. Now dip each bread slices in the prepared milk and egg mixture and take out immediately. Although French toast is made using thick slices of bread traditionally, we can try with any normal variety of bread available to us.

  7. Then place on the hot tawa and allow it to brown over medium heat in melted butter. Your room will be filled with nice tempting fragrance of French toast at this time.

  8. When one side is brown and crisp, flip and cook the other side also. Do not flip the toast in a hurry, give it time to cook the bottom side before you flip because the bread will break if underdone. When both sides are brown and crisp, transfer into a serving plate. You can serve with honey or maple syrup. I like to gobble it up without any accompaniments.
